Yorkshire, Worcestershire seal quarter-final berths

NORTH GROUP

Yorkshire vs Warwickshire

Jonathan Trott's century, followed by Ateeq Javid's four-for, propelled Warwickshire to a massive 118-run victory in the Royal London One-Day Cup game over Yorkshire, by Duckworth-Lewis Stern method, to seal a home quarter-final, on Monday (August 1) at Headingly.

Electing to bat first, the visitors were reduced to 40 for 2 in no time before Trott and Ian Bell rebuilt the innings with a 52-run stand for the third wicket. After his partner's departure, Trott went on to stitch a 93-run stand with Tim Ambrose. Laurie Evans's late blitz, an unbeaten 48 off just 30 deliveries, helped the visitors further as they posted a challenging 283 on the board.

Chris Wright struck early to rock Yorkshire's chase. Javid then ran through the hosts' middle-order to bring them down to 125 for 6 in under 30 overs. Once he got rid of half-centurion Travis Head, his final scalp of the game, it was only a matter of time before the Yorkshire lower-order crumbled under pressure of the tall target.

Brief scores: Warwickshire 283/6 in 50 overs (Jonathan Trott 118, Laurie Evans 48*; Steven Patterson 2-50) beat Yorkshire 167 all out in 37.4 overs (Travis Head 53, David Willey 27; Ateeq Javid 4-42)

Nottinghamshire vs Worcestershire

Worcestershire marched into the One-Day Cup quarter-finals with a fourth spot finish after their 35-run victory over Nottinghamshire in a rain-curtailed game at Trent Bridge.

Half-centuries from Riki Wessels (50), Samit Patel (55) and Daniel Christian (54) powered the visitors to a daunting 284 for 8 in overcast conditions.

With the rain threat looming, Daryl Mitchell (61 not out) and Thomas Charles Fell (63 not out) quickly rebuilt after an early wicket. Their brisk fifties ensured the visitors were ahead on DLS before the eventual downpour forced the game to be called off.

Brief scores: Nottinghamshire 284/4 in 50 overs (Riki Wessels 50, Samit Patel 55, Daniel Christian 54; Ed Barnard 3-45) lost to Worcestershire 138/1 in 24 overs (Daryl Mitchell 61*, Thomas Charles Fell 63*)

Derbyshire vs Leicestershire

Derbyshire and Leicestershire shared a point each and were both knocked out of the Royal London One-Day Cup after persistent rain washed out their group encounter on Monday.

Neil Broom (90) and Billy Godleman (66) hit half-centuries to power Derbyshire to 260 for 6 from their allotted 50 overs. However, two balls into Leicestershire's chase, rain halted play and the game was eventually called off.

Lancashire vs Durham

After a washout at Old Trafford in their encounter against Lancashire, Durham were knocked out of the Royal London Cup on Monday.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, Lancashire's scoreboard read 39 for no loss after seven overs before play was halted due to rain. After a lengthy break, the game was reduced to 17-overs-a-side affair but just minutes away from resumption, rain returned to end Durham's hopes.

SOUTH GROUP

Surrey vs Glamorgan

Only 19 overs were possible before the South Group game between Surrey and Glamorgan at The Oval was washed out due to persistent showers. The no result has left Surrey with a must-win situation in their final game against Middlesex and have to hope for other results to go their way.

After being asked to bat, the hosts got off to a quick-fire start with Jason Roy and Aaron Finch hitting the straps straightaway. While Finch departed after a 44-run opening stand, Roy and Steven Steven Davies continued to blaze away, taking only 18 overs to get Surrey past 150. However, rain played spoilsport after that and no play was possible after the 19th over with Surrey placed at 157 for 1. Roy was on 93 not out off 67 while Davies hit an unbeaten 42 off 35.
