Marsh picked up the injury in Australia's third One-Day International against the hosts and will thus miss the remaining two ODIs and the subsequent two-match Twenty20 International series.
"Shaun suffered an injury to his left little finger whilst fielding in the match yesterday," David Beakley, the team physiotherapist, said. "An x-ray after the match confirmed a fracture and Shaun will now return to Perth to allow time for this to heal."
Usman Khawaja, who was dropped after two matches in the Test series due to a string of low scores, has been named as replacement for Marsh for the two T20Is which will be played on September 6 and 9. Marsh himself was overlooked for the first two Tests but when drafted in for the third, scored a century in Colombo.
The fourth match of the five-match ODI series, which Australia lead 2-1, will be played in Dambulla on Wednesday (August 31).
