Experts feel my bowling action has improved: Taskin

Taskin Ahmed, the Bangladesh fast bowler, is confident of soon getting ready to get his remodeled bowling action tested by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Bangladesh Cricket Board's bowling action review committee, on Sunday (July 31), tested Taskin's action at the National Cricket Academy ground in Mirpur after he had spent time with coach Mahbub Ali Zaki over the last few months.

Taskin also played in the Dhaka Premier League in April after the ICC banned Arafat Sunny and the pacer from bowling in international cricket after their action was found to be illegal during the World Twenty20 in India.

"It feels good that we have such technologies at home now," Taskin said. "The test has given me more confidence. I have spoken to a number of experts who said that my bowling action has improved."
The 21-year-old is now confident of getting his action cleared after revealing some experts found improvement in it and acknowledged he didn't have to make any major changes.

"If I keep going at this rate, I will be ready for the main test soon," he said. "I never really needed a major change in my bowling action, because the problem wasn't that big. They found three deliveries faulty out of seven overs."

Even though Nasir Ahmed, the the BCB's Management Information Systems manager, conceded that it will be difficult to conclude if Taskin's action is completely legal since they used only a 2D camera to test him, the board is still keen to see if there are improvements made on certain areas before sending him to the ICC.

"We have taken his footage in a professional way, for the first time since his rehab began," Nasir said. "We will analyse the footage of this test and those from his rehab. We will see his progress before sending him for the ICC bowling action test.

"We have done the test in 2D camera, but the ICC's test will be in 3D so it will be hard to be 100% sure about his action. But we can judge how much he has improved and whether he has been able to grasp what he was told to work on."
