Ben Stokes, the England all-rounder, who sustained a calf injury
during the second innings of the second Test against Pakistan at Old
Trafford, was ruled out of the rest of the four-match series on
Wednesday (August 3). He had undergone a scan on his injured calf last
week to ascertain the extent of the damage and reportedly will be out of
action for close to six weeks now.
Stokes was replaced by
Steven Finn, the Middlesex pacer, for the third Test at Edgbaston.
Earlier, the 25-year-old cricketer, had pulled up after bowling the
second ball of his sixth over to Younis Khan on Day 4 of the Old
Trafford Test. He couldn't complete the over and had to leave the field
with the physio.
"Devastated about the injury
especially with all the hard work put in by myself and others to get me
back to fukk fitness," Stokes had tweeted after he was injured. "Another
couple weeks of rehab and hoping to finish off what has been great
summer so far for @ECB_cricket."
This is the second
time that Stokes has suffered an injury in the last three months. The
all-rounder felt pain in his left knee during the first Test against Sri
Lanka at Leeds at the end of May and subsequently, underwent a surgery.
