The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday (August 2)
formed a new legal panel which will serve as a medium to interact with
the Lodha Committee. The panel will be headed by former Supreme Court
judge Markandey Katju and will have three other counsels including
BCCI's counsel Abhinav Mukerjee.
According to a press
release from BCCI, the board members decided to form the panel during
the Working Committee meeting at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai, since the
Lodha Panel's recommendations 'were complex and would involve
large-scale changes to be implemented across the board.'
Last
month, the Supreme Court accepted most of the recommendations made by
the Lodha Panel and gave the board a six-month deadline to implement the
reforms. With BCCI President Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke
set to meet the Lodha committee members on August 9 in New Delhi, this
newly formed panel will 'advise and guide' the board.
