Virat Kohli has retained the top spot in the ICC Twenty20
International (T20I) rankings for batsmen after the two-match series
against West Indies in Florida, the International Cricket Council (ICC)
confirmed on Tuesday (August 30).
R Ashwin too
gained in the rankings and climbed three places to take the fourth spot
in the bowlers' ranking. Samuel Badree, Imran Tahir and Jasprit Bumrah
continue to hold the top-three slots.
There has
been no change in the top five spots in the batting rankings with Aaron
Finch, Martin Guptill, Faf du Plessis and Joe Root following Kohli in
the rankings.
In team rankings, India managed to
retain the second spot after the second T20I in Florida was abandoned
due to a wet outfield. West Indies, who are No. 3, needed to win both
T20Is to leapfrog India. However, after an one-run win, there's wasn't
much luck for Carlos Brathwaite and his men in the next game.
New Zealand continue to be the top-ranked T20I side while South Africa are placed fourth, followed by England.
