The South African A pair of Tabraiz Shamsi and Qaasim Adams have been
charged for separate incidents during their Quadrangular One-Day Series
match against the National Performance Squad after having breached the
ICC's Code of Conduct on Wednesday (August 31).
The pair was
charged with a Level 1 breach of Article 2.1.5 of the ICC's code - which
is for showing dissent at an umpire's decision during an international
match.
The players accepted match referee Steve Bernard's
reprimand which was offered after he considered the umpires' written
report. Shamsi made a rather zealous appeal against Matthew Short after
having struck him on the pad in the 36th over to which the umpire
remained unmoved even as the bowler was reduced to his knees. After the
completion of the over, he protested with the umpire, expressing his
dismay at the decision. The left-arm chinaman ended the game with
returns of 2 for 68.
Adams shared a brilliant 91-run stand
with David Miller to resurrect South Africa's chase after a flurry of
quick wickets. Him being adjudged leg before to legspinner Kyle Gardiner
for 44 put an end to that stand, to which, the batsman threw his head
back in disappointment and stood his ground a few seconds before making
the long walk back.
Both players, however, will be available when they take on NPS in a third-place play-off on Saturday (September 3).
