Devendra Bishoo, the West Indies legspinner, has said he's eager to
have a good series in the four-match Test series against India, having
last played a Test in 2015, against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Bishoo
acknowledged that he's ready and prepared to bowl long spells. "I am up
for it," he said on Wednesday (July 13). "I know I will have to bowl
long spells and get wickets ... I really want to have a good series. I
want to have an excellent series."
The last time Bishoo played
against India in 2011, he ended up with seven wickets in Jamaica. The
legspinner, understandably, took confidence from his previous
performances going into the series.
"I did well against India when
they were here in the Caribbean back in 2011," he reflected. "The
memories are always there. I took seven wickets in the match in Jamaica -
and I'm confident of doing well again.
"We're a young team and we
know it will be a hard series, but we are fully aware of what is
required," he said. "Everybody is up for it and we are coming along very
well. So far this year West Indies have performed well in the short
formats ... we want to continue that good work."
India will take on West Indies in the first of the four Tests in Antigua starting on July 21.
