Ben Stokes,
the England all-rounder, is hopeful of taking part in the English summer
once again. Stokes walked off the field midway into his sixth over in
the second innings of the Old Trafford Test against Pakistan due to a
calf injury.
The 25-year-old also missed the first Test at Lord's
as he was recovering from a knee injury that he picked up during the
recently concluded series against Sri Lanka.
Stokes was out of
action for about two months as he needed a surgery to repair his knee
and returned to the international scene for the second Test against
Pakistan. However, picking up another injury in his comeback game
"devasted" Stokes, as he revealed in a tweet.
MRI scans revealed a tear on his right calf and now he will undergo rehabilitation for a couple of weeks.
While
he has certainly been ruled out of the third Test beginning on August 3
in Birmingham, he remains doubtful for the fourth Test as well.
The
Test series will be followed by a five-match One-Day International
series and a one-off Twenty20 International. England will hope that
Stokes can make a quick recovery as he is an important member of the
limited overs teams as well.
