Davies, Curran frustrate Nottinghamshire

Division 1
Surrey v Nottinghamshire
At the Kennington Oval, Steven Davies (82 not out) and Tom Curran (52 not out) frustrated Nottinghamshire with an unbeaten 112-run stand to take the team to 284 for six at the end of Day 1 in Division 1 on Sunday (June 19).
Nottinghamshire elected to field and had Surrey on the mat at 138 for five. Arun Harinath (73) held the innings together but failed to get to the three-figure mark. Davies and Ben Foakes (22) resisted for a brief while to add 34 runs for the sixth wicket.
Once Foakes was dismissed with the scorecard reading 172 for 6, Nottinghamshire failed to capitalise on the good work from the bowlers and saw the score swell past the 280-run mark.
Brief scores: Surrey 284-6 in 90 overs (Steven Davies, Tom Curran; Jake Ball 2-63) vs Nottinghamshire.
Division 2
Essex v Leicestershire
At the County Ground in Chelmsford, Leicestershire did well to reduce Essex for just 266 for nine before bad light forced and early end to the day.
Essex lost their openers with just 14 runs on the board before Tom Westley (57) and Ravi Bopara (61) revived the innings with a 76-run stand. Once the former was dismissed, Essex kept slipping and found themselves tottering at 159 for six.
Ryan ten Doeschate scored 42 to lift the team past the 200-run mark.
Brief scores: Essex 266-9 in 83.4 overs (Ravi Bopara 61; Charlie Shreck 4-79) vs Leicestershire.
Glamorgan v Kent
Chris Cooke hit an unbeaten 42 to help Glamorgan reach 93 for two before rain forced an early end to the day at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
Reduced to 7 for two, Cooke collaborated with William Bragg (33 not out) to score 84 runs for the third wicket. Only 21.5 overs were possible on the day.
Brief scores: Glamorgan 93-2 in 21.5 overs (Chris Cooke 42*) vs Kent.
