Natwest T20 Blast wrap: Myburgh takes Somerset home after Gayle blitz

South Group
Surrey vs Somerset
Led by Johann Myburgh's unbeaten 53-ball 86, Somerset registered a six-wicket win over Surrey at the County Ground in Taunton on Friday (June 10). His knock included four boundaries and five sixes. Needing 187 runs to win, Chris Gayle got Somerset off to a quickfire start with a 13-ball 31. Myburgh then put on valuable stands with Lewis Gregory (21) and Roelof van der Merwe (39 not out) to take his side over the line.
Earlier in the day, Gareth Batty, the Surrey skipper, won the toss and elected to bat. Dominic Sibley led the way with an unbeaten 74. There was very little assistance for the bowlers as only eight wickets fell during the course of the match.
Brief Scores: Surrey 186/4 in 20 Overs (Dominic Sibley 74*, Kumar Sangakkara 37; Max Waller 1/18, Craig Overton 1-30) lost to Somerset 189/4 in 19.2 Overs (Johann Myburgh 86*, Roelof van der Merwe 39*; Tom Curran 1-29, Sam Curran 1-31) by six wickets.
Gloucestershire v Glamorgan
Colin Ingram and Aneurin Donald starred with the bat during the chase to help Glamorgan register a six-wicket win over Gloucestershire in Bristol. The duo added 89 runs for the third wicket after the openers were dismissed pretty cheaply. Ingram hit five sixes in his 30-ball 64 and was dismissed in the 15th over. Donald remained unbeaten on 48 from 39 deliveries as the visitors chased the target down with seven balls to spare.
Earlier, Gloucestershire managed to post 168 on the board with Ian Cockbain and Kieran Noema-Barnett top-scoring with 37. Dale Steyn was at his best as he picked up two wickets.
Brief scores: Gloucestershire 168/8 in 20 overs (Ian Cockbain 37, Kieran Noema-Barnett 37, Dale Steyn 2-21) lost to Glamorgan 172/4 in 18.5 overs (Colin Ingram 64, Aneurin Donald 48*, Benny Howell 2-27) by six wickets.
Essex vs Middlesex
Eoin Morgan and Mitchell McClenaghan starred for Middlesex in their comfortable win over Essex. The England limited-overs skipper first scored an unbeaten half-century to guide his side to 173 in their 20 overs. He was aided by a cameo from Paul Stirling who scored 30 from just 14 deliveries before getting castled by Wahab Riaz. Graham Napier picked three wickets but was expensive at the same time.
Chasing 174 for victory, Essex never looked in command as they lost their first four wickets with just 62 on the board. Ryan ten Doeschate and Ashar Zaidi gave the home side mild hopes with a 43-run stand but as soon as Zaidi was dismissed, they lost their way. Ten Doeschate remained unbeaten on 58 but saw his side fall short by 17 runs. McClenaghan was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball as he first removed Tom Westley and then came back at the death to pick three more wickets to dent Essex.
Brief scores: Middlesex 173/8 in 20 overs (Eoin Morgan 59*, Dawid Malan 34, Graham Napier 3-40) beat Essex 156/8 in 20 overs (Ryan ten Doeschate 58*, Mitchell McClenaghan 4-33) by 17 runs.
Sussex vs Kent
All-rounder David Wiese hit back-to-back boundaries in the final over to give Sussex a tense win over Kent at Hove. Chasing 141 for victory, the home side were struggling at 68 for 4 at one stage in the 12th over but Kiwi international Ross Taylor steadied the chase with a well-crafted half-century. But when Sussex lost him and Chris Jordan in the 19th over, the match seemed to be going out of their grasps before Wiese found the boundary twice in the final over.
Earlier, Sam Northeast stroked a blistering half-century at No.3 that consisted of four sixes but the Kent middle order failed to capitalize on his innings to get bowled out for 140. Jordan and Tymal Mills picked up three wickets each.
Brief scores: Kent 140 in 20 overs (Sam Northeast 53, Tymal Mills 3-15, Chris Jordan 3-18) lost to Sussex 143/6 in 19.3 overs (Ross Taylor 62, Ben Brown 26, Mitchell Claydon 3-25) by four wickets.
North Group
Worcestershire vs Northamptonshire
Ben Cox's late charge helped Worcestershire overhaul Northamptonshire's total and register a three-wicket win at New Road in Worcester. Winning the toss, Joe Leach, Worcestershire skipper elected to field. Northamptonshire batsmen got off to starts, but barring Ben Duckett, who scored a half-century, none of the other batsmen manage to make a substantial score. Nonetheless, the visitors managed to reach 169 for 7 in their 20 overs.
In reply, the hosts were left tottering at 20 for 3 within the first three overs. Tom Cohler-Cadmore (60) in company of Brett D'Oliviera (37) put on a 44-ball 69-run stand for the fourth wicket and brought the chase back to life. However, it was Cox's 24-ball 48 knock which included six boundaries and a six that helped them go over the line.
Brief Scores: Northamptonshire 169-7 in 20 Overs (Ben Duckett 50, Joshua Cobb 23; Joe Leach 3-26, George Rhodes 1-11) lost to Worcestershire 170/7 in 19.3 Overs (Tom Kohler-Cadmore 60, Ben Cox 42*; Ben Sanderson 3-34, Azharullah 2-27) by three wickets.
Lancashire vs Leicestershire
Lancashire beat Leicestershire by nine wickets in a rain-reduced North Group encounter at Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday. Steven Croft, Lancashire captain, won the toss and elected to field.
Led by Mark Cosgrove's unbeaten 47-ball 66, a knock that included eight boundaries, Leicestershire managed to post 131 for 3 in their 14 overs. He was well supported by his opening partner Mark Pettini (14-ball 23) and cameos from Umar Akmal (11-ball 17) and Kevin O'Brien (9-ball 12 not out).
However, the target seemed too little as Lancashire cruised through in the chase where the total was reduced to 77 runs in seven overs. Lancashire attained the target with five balls to spare.
Brief Scores: Leicestershire 131/3 in 14 Overs (Mark Cosgrove 66, Mark Pettini 23; Steven Croft 1-11, Jordan Clark 1-15) lost to Lancashire 77/1 in 6.1 Overs (Jordan Clark 31*, Alviro Petersen 23) by 9nine wickets.
