Mario Villavarayan, Bangladesh's strength and conditioning coach, has
said that Mustafizur Rahman, the left-arm pacer, will take one month to
rehabilitate from the hamstring and ankle injuries that he sustained
during the fag end of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016.
"Ideal
[time to be fully fit] would be one month," Villavarayan said.
"However, we will see how he does this week and take it from there. As
of today, there's marginal improvement. It was a long season for him, so
we are working on him. We assessed him yesterday and he has improved,
and we will assess him again next week and take it from there. He has
responded well."
Mustafizur hasn't partaken in any of
Royal One-Day London Cup and T20 Blast matches for Sussex. He is
expected to be fit for three T20 games, and England's premier domestic
One-Day competition by the end of July.
Earlier,
Bayjidul Islam, Bangladesh's physiotherapist, had said that Mustafizur
would be assessed again in two weeks. The Sussex think-tank also agreed
to give Bangladesh's spearhead time until June 10 to recuperate from
injuries and fatigue. The 20-year-old signed for Sussex as their second
overseas player back in March this year.
