Younis Khan's match-winning double century in the fourth and final
Test against England at The Oval helped him march into the Top 5 in the
ICC rankings for Test batsmen. The 38-year-old slots in behind Steve
Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Hashim Amla, as per the updated
rankings that were released on Monday (August 15).
While there was
no change in the Top 4, Ajinkya Rahane managed to climb up to eighth
from 11th, after his consistent show in the West Indies. The Indian
middle-order batsman has amassed 243 runs in the three Tests so far at
an average of 121.50 and claimed his career-best ranking.
Among
the bowlers, James Anderson maintains his healthy 12-point lead over
Ravichandran Ashwin at the top, with Dale Steyn, Stuart Broad and Yasir
Shah occupying the next three slots in the top-five. Ashwin also sits
atop the all-rounders' charts, after scoring 235 runs at an average of
58.75 and bagging 16 wickets in three Tests against West Indies.
With
the last Test to go, Ashwin is the fourth highest run-getter in the
series behind Virat Kohli, Rahane and KL Rahul and the highest
wicket-taker in the series.
