Boyd Rankin, the right-arm pacer, has been ruled out of the
remaining county season, Warwickshire confirmed on Tuesday (August 16).
The 32-year-old suffered a fracture in his left tibia during a training
session at Edgbaston. The injury also rules Rankin out of Ireland's clashes against Pakistan, Hong Kong and Australia.
"It's
extremely frustrating to lose Boyd during such a key point in the
season. He will now go through a rehabilitation programme with our
medical team to rest, strengthen and be ready for our 2017 pre-season
schedule," Dougie Brown, Warwickshire Director of Cricket, said.
However,
the team is expecting to field Sam Hain in the Royal London One-Day Cup
quarter-final against Essex on Wednesday. The batsman has recovered
from his shoulder injury and is in contention for a spot in the playing
XI. Chris Woakes too will join the squad after an impressive Test series
against Pakistan.
