Australia have withdrawn all-rounder Mitchell Marsh from the
One-Day International (ODI) squad three days ahead of the five-match
series against Sri Lanka. Marsh, who featured in all the three Tests in
the subcontinent, will return home to recuperate ahead of the ODI series
in South Africa in late September.
"It's a big
summer ahead for him. We've obviously got some quality all-rounders in
our one-day squad anyway, so we get a chance to freshen him up and ready
to go for South Africa and moving forward," Darren Lehmann, the
Australia head coach, said on Thursday (August 18).
Australia,
who have the services of two other all-rounders in James Faulkner and
Moises Henriques, haven't named a replacement for Marsh yet. The ODI
series will begin on August 21 and go on till September 4.
Australia ODI squad: Steve
Smith (c), David Warner (vc), George Bailey, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James
Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Moises Henriques,
Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade
(wk), Adam Zampa
