AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn and Wayne Parnell are set to end
their Caribbean Premier League 2016 stints after they were recalled by
Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Monday (July 18) in order to participate
in the annual awards function to be hosted by the board in Johannesburg
later this month.
Barbados Tridents have replaced
the duo of de Villiers and Parnell with Ahmed Shehzad, Pakistan's
opening batsman, and Marchant de Lange, the tearaway South African fast
bowler, respectively.
The 24-year-old Shehzad is
expected to join the set-up for Tridents' next game against Jamaica
Tallawahs on July 20. Incidentally, the dashing opener played for
Tallawahs in 2013. On the other hand, de Lange was a part of Guyana
Amazon Warriors last year. The 25-year-old fast bowler is scheduled to
arrive ahead of Tridents' game against the struggling St. Lucia Zouks on
July 23.
De Villiers has been in prime form for
Tridents, having scored 234 runs at an average of 58.50, while Parnell
has taken seven wickets in the six games he has played so far.
Steyn,
the South African spearhead, has also made his presence felt in the
tournament by snaring eight wickets for the table-toppers Tallawahs. He
will be replaced by Dane Paterson, the Cape Cobras fast bowler. Paterson
has played for South Africa 'A' and has been on the fringes of the
national set-up for a while.
