The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday
(August 11) announced the schedule for the upcoming Duleep Trophy
tournament, which will be played with pink ball, under lights for the
first time.
Three teams - India Red, India Blue and
India Green - will feature in the tournament starting August 23, at the
Greater Noida International Cricket Stadium in Uttar Pradesh. Yuvraj
Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina have been named captains of the
three 15-member teams respectively.
Interestingly, Cheteshwar
Pujara and Murali Vijay, currently a part of the Indian contingent on
their tour of West Indies, have been named in the Blue and Green squads.
It is likely that the duo will, however, stay back until the end of the
ongoing Test series on August 22 and join their respective Duleep
Trophy sides from the second round.
With the Indian side for the
upcoming two-match Twenty20 International series against West Indies in
USA yet to be announced, it is likely that there could be further
changes to the Duleep Trophy squads. India A team, currently in
Australia for a quadrangular One-Day series, could also have some of its
players drafted into the yet-to-be-announced T20I team.
