Mustafizur Rahman, the young Bangladesh fast bowler, will undergo a
surgery to his shoulder next Thursday (August 11). The left-armer
featured in just two games for Sussex in the T20 Blast before an injury
to his shoulder ruled him out. Mustafizur was recommended to undergo a
surgery for his SLAP (Superior Labrum from Anterior to Posterior) tear.
"The
operation will take place in London on August 11," Bangladesh Cricket
Board's (BCB) media committee director Jalal Yunus was quoted as saying
by ESPNCricinfo.
England & Wales Cricket Board
(ECB) suggested Dr. Andrew Wallace of London's Fortius Clinic, who gave
the youngster an appointment for next Thursday. "After Mustafizur had
met him yesterday, he gave the appointment. We are confident that
Mustafizur is in good hands. We want this to get over as soon as
possible," Yunus added.
Despite a successful foray into
international cricket last year and a commendable performance in the
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016, Mustafizur has been halted by injuries
to ankle and knee already, which delayed his English county stint. The
recent surgery could lead to a six-month lay off.
