Division One
Jason Roy's hundred and opener Rory Burns's 88 helped Surrey post a commanding 384 for 8 at stumps on Day 1 of their County Championship Division One match at Lord's on Thursday (August 4).
Electing to bat first, Surrey were quickly reduced to 70 for 3, largely thanks to Tim Murtagh's twin strikes. Roy then combined hands with the unbeaten opener to stitch a valuable 118-run stand to resurrect the Surrey innings. While the opener fell agonisinglyshort of a hundred, Roy went on to register his, in the company of wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, who in turn made 53 not out before the stumps were called.

Somerset vs Durham
Durham bowlers ran through the Somerset batting order to shoot them out for 184 before finishing Day 1 of their County Championship game at 154 for 7, at Taunton on Thursday.
Mark Wood dismissed three middle-order batsman, while Graham Onions and Paul Coughlin picked up two apiece as the home team was restricted to a paltry 184 after opting to bat.
Jack Leach and Roelof van der Merwe then ran through the Durham top and middle order to leave the visitors reeling at 154 for 7 at the end of day's play.
Craig Overton shone with the bat for Somerset, registering a score of 42 while opener Mark Stoneman top scored for Durham with 35 off 36 deliveries.

Yorkshire vs Warwickshire
Keith Barker registered a four-for on Day 1 of Warwickshire's County Championship match against Yorkshire to reduce the hosts to 252 for 9 at stumps, on Thursday.
Half-century from Travis Head - 54 off 81 deliveries - and Jack Leaning's 42 off 90 deliveries took their team close to the 200-run mark before Steven Patterson chipped in with a 35-run knock at the fag end to take them to a respectable total.
Barker got rid of Andrew Gale and Head in quick succession, before returning for another spell towards the end where he dismissed the other set batsman Leaning and Jack Brooks to put Yorkshire in a spot of bother.

Hampshire vs Lancashire
Opener Will Smith stayed unbeaten on 99 as Hampshire reached 276 for 1 at stumps on Day 1 of their County Championship fixture against Lancashire at Southampton.
The opening duo of Smith and Jimmy Adams frustrated the Lancashire bowlers on the opening day with a mammoth 191-run stand before Jordan Clark got the breakthrough his team has been desperately hunting for.
Just 12 runs short of what would have been a well-crafted century, Adams fell after a 202-ball knock studded with as many as 14 hits to the fence. His partner, however, carried on with the No. 3 bat Tom Alsop, who in turn hit an unbeaten 50 before the close of play.

Division TwoGlamorgan vs Northamptonshire
Mohammad Azharullah And Ben Sanderson triggered a middle -order collapse to reduce Glamorgan to 139 for 5 at stumps on Day 2 of their County Championship Division Two encounter at Swansea, on Thursday (August 4).
Glamorgan openers Nicholas Selman and Mark Wallace put on a 52-run stand before Azharullah struck in the 14th over. Sanderson then got rid of William Bragg and Jacques Rudolph in the space of three deliveries as the hosts quickly slipped to 53 for 3. Azharullah then added two more to his tally before the stumps were called.
Earlier in they day, Northamptonshire resumed their innings from the overnight score of 108 for 4 and posted 321 on the board before getting all out in the 87th over. While Laurie Evans (74) added 32 to his overnight score, Saif Zaib chipped in with an unbeaten 65. Rory Kleinveldt was unfortunate to miss out on a hundred but made a brisk 91 to guide his team past the 300-run mark.

Kent vs Worcestershire
Sean Dickson (79), Darren Stevens (81) and Will Gidman (54 not out) all scored valuable half-centuries to help Kent take a morale-boosting 186-run lead over Worcestershire at stumps on Day 2 at Canterbury.
Daniel Bell-Drummond fell early after Kent resumed from their overnight score of 55 for no loss. Dickson, however, added 60 to his score and found company in Stevens who hit 12 boundaries and the only six of Kent's innings in his 105-ball essay. Gidman provided the late push, and together with Matt Coles (41) added 51 to the ninth wicket stand before latter was dismissed.
Brief scores: Kent 397 for 9 (Sean Dickson 79, Darren Stevens 8, Will Gidman 54*; Ed Barnard 3-82) lead Worcestershire 211 by 186 runs, with 1 wicket in hand.
Essex vs Sussex
Riding on back of half-centuries from four of their top-five batsman, Essex marched to 337 for 6 on Day 1 of their County Championship encounter on Thursday.
Electing to bat first, Nick Browne and Jaik Micklebrugh gave their team a perfect start with a century stand before falling in quick succession. Tom Westley was the only batsman amongst the top-five who failed to open his account. Redued to 160 for 3, skipper Ryan ten Doeschate then joined hands with Dan Lawrence for the repair and the two added 83 to the fourth wicket stand.
Wicketkeeper James Froster missed out on a fifty by eight runs, but propelled the team to a strong total before the stumps were called on the opening day.
Brief scores: Essex 337 for 6 (Ryan ten Doeschate 83, Dan Lawrence 65, Nick Browne 55, Jaik Mickleburgh 54; Jofra Archer 3-74) vs Sussex.
Leicestershire vs Derbyshire
Ned Eckersley's unbeaten 73 helped Leicestershire finish Day 1 of their County Championship match against Derbyshire on 300 for 7, on Thursday (August 4).
The hosts lost opener Angus Robson early after electing to bat. Paul Horton, together with No. 3 bat Neil Dexter rebuilt the innings with an 89-run stand for the second wicket.
The home team, at one point, were struggling at 138 for 5 but wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien and Eckersley combined for a 68-run partnership for the sixth wicket that took Leicester past the 200-run mark. Clint McKay's 42-ball cameo worth 40 runs helped the home team recover well and finish with 300 runs on the board.
