Joel Garner named West Indies team manager

Joel Garner, on Saturday (July 16), has been named as the team manager of West Indies, inking a three-year deal with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
Garner previously worked as the manager of the team in 2009-10 during the ICC World Twenty20 in the Caribbean, also having worked with the 'A' team.
"I always answer the call in West Indies cricket," he said. "It is always an honour to serve in any capacity in West Indies cricket and I'm pleased to be back with the team as manager to share my knowledge and experience to the team and be an ambassador for West Indies cricket and the region."
Garner represented West Indies in 58 Tests, 98 One-Day Internationals and picked up a total of 405 wickets.
His first assignment will the four-Test series against India starting from July 21 in Antigua.

Anurag Thakur, the Board of Control for Cricket in India president, on Sunday (July 17) confirmed the support staff will be selected before September 15. He informed that a meeting would take place with Anil Kumble, the head coach, and other board members after the team returns from the West Indies tour.

BCA president Gaekwad sacked during AGM

In a surprising move, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) management, led by the Revival Group, sacked association president Samarjitsinh Gaekwad on Sunday (July 17) afternoon. The decision to remove Gaekwad as BCA president, according to the managing committee, was taken by hundreds of members present during the AGM at Sayaji Nagargruh. It is for the first time in BCA's history that a decision to oust a sitting president has been taken.

With a fast, full delivery, Amir cleaned up debutant Jake Ball to give the visitors one of their finest overseas victories. After the customary high-fives and hugs, senior statesman Younis Khan reminded his 'troops' of an unfinished business.
He duly proceeded to line his teammates in two rows and they all broke into a round of impromptu push-ups. It was an ode to their training camp ahead of the tour, a token of thanks even. Even those at the Lord's rooting for the home team, couldn't hold themselves back from the applauding the effervescent Pakistan team off the field. Poetic.
